Do you care to be fair?

In an ideal world all trade would be fair trade a world where we could be sure that with every purchase the producers were working in safe conditions with considerations for the environment and were being paid fairly.

Unfortunately today we find there is a high demand for cheap products which are driving unethical practices in the developing world. The benefits of international trade are not shared fairly by everyone, and small producers have difficulty accessing market and price information. This can lead to a dependence on middlemen therefore receiving smaller returns for their work. Many producers struggle through low pay, unsafe working environments and poor living conditions. The way that many products are produced and traded is simply unjust. Fair trade is an answer to this.

When you buy fair trade products your purchase enables the producers to help themselves have a better way of life. It’s only fair. Right? The alternative is not great, cheap fashion has a high cost.

Fair trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity for producers.

By supporting producers who are marginalised we can assist people in making a difference for themselves and their communities. Fair Trade Organisations, backed by consumers, are engaged actively in supporting producers, advocacy and awareness raising.

Every Purchase Matters! Each time we make fair and ethical shopping choices we are making a vote for the kind of world we would like to live in.
